The Start Of A Barna Summer...

In the last week, the temperatures have been scorching here in Barcelona, around 30 degrees...it's fair to say that summer has finally arrived.

But, every summer also brings its fair share of endings- end of the school year, end of the football season, and the end of using a duvet at nighttime! At least these endings are tied with celebrations too- the ECC team went for a spot of Greek food and plate bashing at Kalimera, a new Greek restaurant in town, and FC Barcelona were the 'championes, championes, ole ole ole' of the Champions League. Julie, Nina and I popped over to Elena's to watch the match; there were fireworks in the skies before the game had even finished! On my way home, I had to walk down La Rambla, where Barça fans were holding red fireworks and climbing fountains to celebrate the victory of their beloved team. Mad as hatters, the lot of them- but the excitement is so contagious, you can't help but get wrapped up in it. It's not every year that your team wins the triple- La Liga (equivalent to the Premiership), El Copa del Rey (the FA Cup), and the Champions League. A bit more likely if your team is Barça, maybe, but still...

So, quite a lot to take in this week. Add that to a beautiful full moon by the ocean, and a 5km Colour Run, and it's clear that this summer has started with a bang!
